Spring is Sprung
Despite April’s fickle weather, the beds in the KRP gardens are bursting with colour. Greenmantle’s Head Gardener Alex Morse is particularly pleased with the clumps of Winston Churchill Narcissi making their first appearance since the bulbs were planted last autumn. The triple-headed flowers have a wonderful scent and add a splash of spring brightness to the beds.
He and his team of six gardeners are on site once a week, ably assisted by our green-fingered resident volunteers. One big job this spring has been trying to rid the lawns of the moss which thrives on our clay soil. He says 25 large bags were filled with dead moss, each bag taking two men to lift. Now they’re working to bring the lawns back to the lushness which makes our gardens at KRP such a pleasure in the summer months.
